The Kitchen Window

The kitchen involves a constant dance of opening and closing, spilling and wiping, taking out and putting away, creating, consuming, and re-stocking. Sharing this volatile space with other humans and animals introduces dynamics that may or may not result in complete harmony. The kitchen is a place where I notice the habits of others and how varying they can be, which causes me to reflect on how I choose to live, how others choose to live, and what I do and do not have control over. In The Kitchen Window, the co-existence of painted paint and collaged paint as well as the image of my cat in the kitchen window are inspired by thoughts surrounding cohabitation, control, and differing internal experiences in a shared external experience.
